Baltimore Underage DUI Lawyer

A Baltimore DUI Attorney Can Advocate for You

The legal drinking age all across the country is 21 and no one under this age (except in very few instances) is allowed to consume alcohol. Because of this, many states, Maryland included, have a "zero tolerance" policy when it comes to underage drinkers who are caught behind the wheel. The legal limit for these drivers is much shallower—but the penalties can be just as harsh as those given to older drivers for the same offense.

At The Law Office of Mark G. Scheuerman, LLC, our legal team believes that all drivers should receive every consideration they deserve before the law following a momentary lapse in judgment. This is especially true for young drivers who, with so much still ahead of them, do not need the entanglement of a criminal conviction at such a crucial period of their lives. We know what it takes to assess these cases for the grounds needed for a dismissal or reduction and can ensure your child's case is navigated to the best possible outcome.

Underage DUI Penalties in Maryland

Underage drivers are held to a strict standard when it comes to blood alcohol content. Unlike drivers 21 and older, whose limit is 0.08%, underage drivers of any BAC reading over 0.02% can be arrested for drunk driving. When they are, most of them become exposed to very same penalties older drivers are.

Penalties for underage DUI in Maryland can include:

  • Fines (including court fees)
  • Possible jail time
  • Six-month administrative license suspension
  • Alcohol treatment programs
  • Installation of an ignition interlock device

If the driver is 18 or older, they will be tried as an adult, and the judge is likely to consider penalties that would be applicable to any other accused drunk driver. If the accused is under 18, their case will be handled in juvenile court for consideration. As with other DUI cases, the penalties can worsen for repeat offenses or when there are aggravating factors (such as when a minor is present, or an accident occurs, etc.)

No matter what your child's circumstances may be, our firm can help. Our Baltimore DUI lawyers know what the court looks for in these cases and can ensure that not only will any weakness in the state's case be challenged, but that your child can face the judge with their best foot forward.

  • YOU ROCK MARK!

“I just wanted to thank you from the "bottom of my heart", you are an incredible, amazing person, and a powerfully skilled Attorney. Words can't even describe how important that outcome meant to me, I hope to go forward with my life, I realize, that would have NOT been possible, 🙏without God and your presence on that day. This whole situation has altered my life forever, my career as a RN and a future Psychologist, was all in your hands that day, and you wheeled it, you kept your word...as promised. You remained honest with me about my case...and that is priceless. "Some mistakes take on the form of eternity". I am a little tearful writing this, forgive me if I miss words. You where blessed by God, with a team of Attorneys that found you Mark, you are genuine, stay that way! I was gifted with reading people, in my journey through I came across some intense deceivers, especially, some that I even treat. I saw compassion during our eye to eye contact, and I knew I could trust you. I know you meet many, of unfavorable in character, but your gift to decipher is an attribute, one that becomes of you. My father loved this quote by Aristotle, he passed in 2005, I thought...it fits you. I shall pass on your name for years to come, even though this is one incident in my life that I would like to forget! Thank you again, and God Bless you and your family. Mark, you are building a responsible team of Attorneys, Keep up the great work! YOU ROCK MARK!”

Thanks to Mark I can marry my Fiance without having anything hanging over my head, and we can make a fresh start in life!!! I cannot thank Mark enough, he gave me the freedom I needed. Mark will not do wrong by you, so hire him if you want a fighting chance.”

  • Mark Is the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“I was really sweating my ticket for 106 in a 55. Mark showed up, handled his business and got me a FULL ACQUITTAL. This man knows the law and forces the state to meet its burden of proof, like I've never seen before. Priced very fairly and you can't get better representation, believe me, I have tried. I have used a lot of attorneys but none took care of me like this man. I will never use another, that's for sure. Thanks Mark!!!!”

  • Highly recommend!

“Mark was a great fit for me, as a lawyer. Right from the beginning I felt comfortable with him and he felt confident we could win my case. Mark kept in touch and always returned my calls and emails quickly. He came fully prepared to court and ready for trial, my case was dismissed and my record cleared. I would definitely recommend him for anyone that finds themselves in a similar situation. Thank you!”

  • I felt very at ease with Mark representing me.

“I am very pleased with the way in which Mark handled my case. I had a speeding ticket which was 29 miles over the speed limit. Mark was very prompt in returning my telephone call and explained what would happen once we got into court and also gave me very valuable information while at court and prior to going to court. I ended up receiving probation before judgment. My fine was reduced from $160 to $50 + $25.50 in court costs. I felt very at ease with Mark representing me and will definitely use him in the future. My family also wants his name and number for any future situations they may come across.”
