Arya Saleh

Director

As a Director at Scheuerman Law, LLC, Arya Saleh is in the prime of his distinguished career as one of Maryland's premier DUI and Criminal Defense litigators. Arya is a former Felony Narcotics Prosecutor for the State of Maryland, where he quarterbacked elite local, state and federal investigations, encompassing an array of diverse targets, from drug bosses to arms traffickers, and even grave-robbers.

He was recruited from those ranks into private practice, to serve as the protege of a legendary litigator that had watched him from afar with an eye toward handing him the keys to his entire practice, challenging Arya to not just run it, but build it better and grow it to unprecedented proportions. Arya rose to that challenge, ultimately exceeding all expectations, to the point where, for seven years, Arya ran the day-to-day operations as Director of Criminal Litigation, from initial consult to final verdict, of the largest DUI clientele base in the history of our State.

At this point, Clients from every county in Maryland, and all over the United States, had hired Arya to safely guide them through the darkest days of their lives, to successful outcomes, before judges and juries all over Maryland, keeping careers on track, families together, and personal and professional reputations intact, and thousands of times over.

In the waning days of 2021, Arya knew he was ready for his next challenge, seeking out yet another DUI/Criminal firm, one which he could devote the remainder of his career to. However, Arya promised himself he would only consider firms that guaranteed two critical, immutable characteristics: one, talent notwithstanding, every lawyer at said firm would have to possess superior character, impeccable integrity and the highest ethical values - NO exceptions, and two, said firm would, at the time of Arya's potential hiring, the kind of explosive growth potential that would inspire and sustain the climatic final act of Arya's career as a litigator.

As Arya envisioned his ideal firm, he had no idea that Mark Scheuerman, a highly experienced, cerebral, battle-tested Baltimore County criminal defense litigator, had been spending the better part of the last decade meticulously building the very type of practice that Arya had targeted. Well known and widely respected by the bench, bar and State in Baltimore County, Mark’s affable demeanor and soft-spoken oratory deceptively belie a supremely gifted legal mind and a potent instinct for business – Mark is a rare breed, legitimate “dual threat” attorney and businessman.

He leads a savvy platoon of hand-selected attorneys, who are each very different characters and personalities, but tight-knit and perfectly complementary to each other’s talents and abilities. As fate would have it, a mutual, trusted confidant, discerned that Mark’s elusive final member of his team had to be Arya, and Mark’s firm was precisely the professional home that Arya was preparing to scour all of Maryland to find. It took a single meeting for the men to decide they should join forces. A classic example of Mark’s shrewd business acumen, Arya’s addition immediately ensured that the considerable capabilities of Mark’s eponymous firm could now be available to clients in many jurisdictions to the west – such as Montgomery and Frederick and Carroll counties, among others, that the Firm was not situated to serve previously.

No lawyer defending DUI and criminal cases in Maryland currently enjoys a larger, more devoted legion of loyal and happy past clients than Arya Saleh, as reflected by simply sorting all attorneys by total number of reviews on AVVO.com, the nation’s largest independent lawyer review service. Arya has devoted his career to mastering the nuances of the Courtroom, and he takes great pride in putting his experience, knowledge and relationships to work for clients every day. As he is often known to tell concerned clients, particularly during their initial consultation, “good people have bad days,” and when they do, he pledges to always be ready to help them. For Arya, every client that hires is not a mere piece of new business – but, rather – he sees it for what he believes it truly is: a fellow human being, placing their life in his capable hands, trusting him to expertly protect all that is dear to them. For Arya, nothing motivates him to remain a leader in his field than being entrusted with this awesome responsibility on a near-daily basis.

Experience

Arya Saleh, Esq. is an experienced former Assistant State’s Attorney who has prosecuted a diverse array of criminal matters before judges and juries in multiple jurisdictions throughout the State of Maryland.

He began his career as a judicial law clerk for the Montgomery County District Court, working alongside eleven District Court Judges. He was then appointed as an Assistant State’s Attorney for Frederick County, Maryland. There, he was first assigned to the District Court team, prosecuting thousands of misdemeanor cases, including DUI/traffic cases, drug offenses, domestic violence, and white-collar financial crimes. During this time, he was also designated as Special Prosecutor, prosecuting cases in several other Counties across Maryland.

Arya distinguished himself and rapidly rose through the ranks, ultimately being promoted to the Felony Narcotics Division. In this role, he headed the County’s Gang Prosecution Unit, handling felony narcotics, gang, and firearms cases. Further, he was a member of a select team of Prosecutors overseeing high-profile, long-term narcotics-trafficking cases. The complexity of these cases included the supervision and authorship of search and seizure warrants and Title III wiretaps, working in tandem with the United States Attorney’s Office, the FBI, DEA, and Homeland Security.
