My interest in criminal law began when I clerked for the Hon. Joseph McCurdy in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City. There, we sat on a felony criminal docket and I was able to observe numerous serious felony criminal jury trials.
I became a prosecutor in August of 2006 in Talbot County. After 3 & 1/2 years on the Eastern Shore, I moved to Baltimore County and joined the State's Attorney's Office in Carroll County. There, I prosecuted nearly every type of traffic and criminal case, misdemeanors, and felonies. I completed Top Gun training for law enforcement, am certified by Maryland State Police in Advanced Collision Investigations, and assisted law enforcement on search warrants, sobriety checkpoints, and warrant sweeps.
Prior to law school, I worked for a large DC law firm and also spent time at a small firm in San Diego. I grew up in the Midwest, graduated from the University of Iowa with degrees in History and Political Science. I graduated cum laude from the University of Baltimore in 2004 and was Editor and Chief of the Environmental Law Journal. Before entering my third year of law school I was fortunate to intern with the Army JAG in Baumholder Germany for 10 weeks. There, I assisted attorneys in helping soldiers organizing their affairs prior to going to Iraq. Now, I enjoy playing all types of sports, hiking, and woodworking, but mostly being with my wife and three small children.
